Birmingham City will once again be backed by a sold out away end when their League One season resumes a week Saturday.
More than 3,000 supporters were in attendance in Blues’ 3-0 win against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night. A crowd of 4,847 watched Scott Wright and Tomoki Iwata get on the score sheet, and 3,159 of those were supporting Chris Davies’ men, which means there were Birmingham almost had double the amount of supporters in the away end, than those in the home section.
As the group stage of the EFL Trophy reaches its climax, Birmingham so far have the largest attendance out of any of the teams. A total of 9,752 were in attendance for the 1-1 draw with Walsall which the Saddlers won on penalties. The closest team to them in the attendance figure table in the competition is Wrexham, who still have 3,312 fewer supporters than them in attendance.
Just over 12-hours after the win against the Shrews, Birmingham’s next match against Lincoln City on Saturday, October 19 was sold out. of The Imps gave Birmingham 1,753 tickets for their trip to Sincil Bank next week, and they have all been snapped up.
Tickets only went on sale on Monday, October 7 at 1.00 pm, which was opened up to Platinum Plus, Platinum Away, and Gold Away Travel Members. They were priced at £25 for an adult, £20 for a concession such as anyone over 65-years-old, or aged between 18 and 21, and £12 for anyone under the age of 18.
Lincoln and Shrewsbury aren’t the only times Birmingham have sold out their away end this season. There were 3,105 supporters from Birmingham City in the away end at Charlton Athletic at the weekend. They also sold out their trips to Rotherham United, Leyton Orient, and Wycombe Wanderers.
