RJ Davis continues to climb up the UNC basketball program record books.

In the Tar Heels victory over Hawaii, Davis passed another legend on the UNC basketball program’s scoring list, officially passing Sam Perkins for fourth place all-time.

In his fifth and final season with the UNC basketball program, Davis has plenty of time to move further up the list. Currently having 2,198 points scored in his career (according to Go Heels), Davis is less than 100 points away from surpassing Phil Ford for third place on the list, which would also make him the highest-scoring guard in the illustrious history of the program.

Once he passes Ford, Davis will look to at least crack the top two. The second spot on the list, currently held by Davis’ former teammate Armando Bacot, is well within reach, as he’s currently 149 points away from tying that mark.

Hansbrough’s insane 2,872 career points will be tough to beat, but if anyone can do it, it would be Davis.

Of course, Davis benefitted from having a fifth season of eligibility to work with (same as Bacot). However, you can’t discredit what he’s been able to do with the UNC basketball program as he’s simply solidified himself among the greatest to ever wear the Carolina Blue uniform.

Davis and the UNC basketball program are back in action on Monday night as they take on Dayton in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.
