The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new quarterback when the 2025 season begins. Will Howard dropped a hint on his future with an announcement as Ohio State awaits the team’s College Football Playoff fate.

The good news for the Buckeyes is the team has plenty of intriguing young quarterbacks on the roster. Julian Sayin, Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz are among the former highly touted prospects sitting behind Howard this season.

Ohio State also officially signed five-star prospect Keelon Russell who has the talent to potentially play during his freshman season. As for Howard, it looks like the Buckeyes quarterback is eventually headed for the 2025 NFL draft whenever Ohio State’s season ends.

The Senior Bowl revealed that Howard has accepted an invitation for the event featuring the top upperclassmen in college football. Senior Bowl week in Mobile, Ala. is one of the first events in the pre-draft process.

It remains to be seen where Howard will be selected in the 2025 NFL draft. College Football Network’s Cam Mellor’s latest mock draft projects Howard as a sixth-round pick.

Howard threw for a career-high 2,860 yards, 27 touchdowns and 8 interceptions while completing 72.3% of his passes during the 2024 regular season. The quarterback also added 131 rushing yards and 7 TDs on the ground.

For now, Howard is likely headed for at least one more game in a Buckeyes uniform. Despite missing the Big Ten championship game, Ohio State is in a good position to make the postseason with a No. 6 ranking.

The College Football Playoff begins on Friday, Dec. 20.
