Manchester United might look to sign Romeo Lavia, a target for Chelsea and Liverpool, with Southampton demanding £50 million to sell him.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Romeo Lavia is the subject of interest from Manchester United. And the Red Devils are contemplating an offer to sign the 19-year-old midfielder. Meanwhile, Southampton will demand around £50 million to part ways with the youngster, with Chelsea and Liverpool interested in signing him.

Romeo Lavia has become one of the most highly sought-after players in the market since joining Southampton. A highly-rated prodigy during his days in the Manchester City Academy, the Belgian prospect always showed promising signs in his youth career. And while Southampton suffered relegation from the Premier League, his stock has risen considerably.

The 19-year-old has turned out 34 times thus far for Southampton, chipping in with one goal and one assist. But Lavia’s stint with the Saints might end following their relegation to the EFL Championship. And he does not have a shortage of suitors, with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United keen on signing him.

Widespread reports have pointed to Liverpool being in the pole position to land the former Manchester City prospect. But Chelsea will reportedly look to hijack the Reds’ move for the teenage sensation. Interestingly, the Blues were also keen on signing the youngster last summer, mere weeks after he moved to Southampton.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool need midfield additions this summer after the exodus they have witnessed thus far. And while the Reds have already signed two midfielders, the Blues are still waffling around in the market. The move for Moises Caicedo has not materialised yet. So Lavia is a viable target for Chelsea.

Chelsea and Liverpool now face stiff competition from Manchester United for Lavia’s signature. And while the Red Devils are currently pursuing Sofyan Amrabat, the Southampton midfielder is a viable alternative. And while the Saints want £50 million to part ways with the Belgian whizkid, the price tag seems justified.

Chelsea and Manchester United should be behind Liverpool in the battle, considering the Reds have the personal terms sorted. And it will be interesting to see which club will secure Lavia’s services in the ongoing transfer window.
