Seven Michigan Wolverines were selected in the 2025 NFL draft, with three going in the top 13. For the current crop, they are enjoying the fruits of their labor with another quarterback commitment in the 2026 class and a defensive end. As for the draft, here are three takeaways that materialized over the weekend for Sherrone Moore’s Michigan football program.

1. The Cleveland Browns crushed the Mason Graham trade

For once the Browns did something competent by selecting the safest player in the draft and adding more picks for their future. Graham should be a mainstay next to Myles Garrett for years to come. They also fortified their run defense with another Big Ten defender and provided plenty of intriguing competition at quarterback and running back. The front office even paired Graham with a familiar name he conquered in November.

2. Will Johnson’s slide won’t be as documented as Shedeur Sanders’

Because of the injury concerns, Johnson had to wait until day two, unlike Sanders. It’s clearly known that Johnson is a top-10 pick when healthy. Johnson will have all the motivation to win the defensive rookie of the year, assuming his knee cooperates. The Cardinals will let him compete with another Buckeye at the same position. Even Jim Harbaugh passed over Johnson on Thursday night. The NFL Network and ESPN coverage of Sanders will be an infamous moment in draft history forever.

3. Donovan Edwards goes from a five-star to irrelavency

The up-and-down career of Edwards comes to a close as he doesn’t get chosen this weekend. He’ll sign a free agent deal with the New York Jets to battle with a crowded backfield that was speculating about trading Breece Hall. The EA Sports cover athlete was the only prospect who went undrafted.
