Alabama athletics brought in the fourth-most revenue among the 15 public SEC schools in Fiscal Year 2024, the league’s NCAA financial reports, obtained by AL.com via multiple open records requests, revealed. The Crimson Tide secured $234.8 million across all sports in FY 2024, which ran from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.

That fell below Texas, which led the league with $331.9 million revenue. Texas A&M ($266.4 million) and Georgia ($241.8 million) also came in ahead of the Crimson Tide, which moved up the list after it ranked sixth among the public schools in FY 2023 revenue.

Meanwhile, Auburn was down the list, 10th among the public schools. The Tigers brought in $194.4 million in FY 2024, below Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Florida in addition to the schools previously mentioned.

The Tigers ranked eighth on the list for FY 2023. Mississippi State ran last in the league, with $127.2 million in revenue.

Alabama ranked second in spending in FY 2024, with $262.8 million, behind only Texas, which spent $325 million. That’s the same place the Crimson Tide sat last year, also behind the Longhorns.

Texas A&M came in just behind Alabama with $243.7 million spent. Tennessee and LSU rounded out the top five in the league, spending-wise.

Auburn ranked ninth in the SEC in spending for FY 2024. The Tigers reported $191.6 million in expenses for the year, one spot behind Georgia.

That was another drop for AU, which spent $192 million in FY 2023, sixth among SEC public schools.

Mississippi State spent $134.2 million, dead last once again.

When Alabama released its revenues and expenses report in January, it was accompanied by an explanation for why the Crimson Tide lost nearly $28 million in FY 2024.

“The net loss reported for the year was largely due to one-time expenses associated with the football coaching transition,” a UA representative said in an email to AL.com.

Still, the numbers show what they show. The Crimson Tide lost more money than any other program in the league for the fiscal year, with Missouri ($15.2 million) the only other school that lost over $10 million.

Ole Miss (-$7.7 million) and Mississippi State (-$6.9 million) and South Carolina (-$194,175) were the other three schools reporting a net loss in FY 2024.

On the other side of the table, Georgia had far and away the largest reported surplus. The Bulldogs came in $47.5 million over expenses for FY 2024, with second-place Texas A&M reporting a $22.7 million surplus.

Auburn had a $2.8 million surplus, seventh among the public schools in the SEC.
