Leeds United striker Georginio Rutter is a reported target for former club Hoffenheim this summer, just seven months after he left the Bundesliga for West Yorkshire.

Leeds are not in a position to sanction any more outgoing transfers without bringing in fees for players, knowing they need to reinvest to get more signings in the doors.

In attack, any players that do leave should be commanding a significant fee, given that they are all on long-term deals.

Georginio Rutter to Hoffenheim?

Having joined Leeds from Hoffenheim for £36million back in the January transfer window, Leeds struggled to see the fruits of their expenditure with the Frenchman.

Both Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce deemed the player not ready for the Premier League, with Daniel Farke leaning on him fairly heavily in pre-season.

A potential exit route has now been offered to the striker in the form of his old club, Hoffenheim, who are reportedly wanting to sign the 21-year-old on loan – per Frankfurter Rundschau.

he German outlet claims that the striker is currently ‘not happy’ in England, and could seek a return to the Bundesliga.

Rutter injury latest

Meanwhile, Leeds won’t be able to count on the talented striker for their opening game of the season against Cardiff City.

That was confirmed by Farke in his pre-match press conference, where he shared that the striker had picked up a core injury in the win over Hearts last Sunday.

We cannot let Rutter go under any circumstances, because he could be absolutely frightening in the Championship this season.

He is too talented a player to be spending too long in the EFL, but this season could really harden him into someone ready for the Premier League on a regular basis.

Where he plays under Farke remains to be seen, but a role off the striker might be where we see the best of the Frenchman.
