Everton demand £50m for highly-sought-after Manchester United target Amadou Onana.

According to the Guardian, Everton have told Manchester United how much they need to pay in order to get their hands on their midfielder, Amadou Onana.

It is understood that the Red Devils have initiated contact with the Toffees regarding the Belgian star as they persist in their pursuit of a new midfield anchor.

Following Fred’s transfer to Fenerbahce for a fee of £8.62 million, Man United are actively seeking a worthy replacement.

This move has created an opening in Erik ten Hag’s squad, and it’s believed that Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is among the leading candidates on his list for reinforcements during the ongoing transfer window period.

While it is stated that United have already agreed upon personal terms with Amrabat, discussions regarding the transfer fee appear to be stagnant.

Nevertheless, as per The Guardian, United’s pursuit of Amrabat hasn’t progressed as expected. Consequently, the club has turned its attention to Everton star Onana. Ten Hag wants to solve his side’s physicality issues by signing the 21-year-old prodigy.

However, persuading Everton will be difficult, as they would likely ask for a bid of at least £50m.

The Toffees are currently in a stable financial position and don’t feel pressured to sell. The club believes that Onana’s value will only rise further if he performs well in the upcoming season.

Nevertheless, Everton are also aware that retaining the young midfielder could become challenging if United’s interest intensifies.

The former Lille star showcased a series of remarkable displays during his debut season at Goodison Park last season.

In addition, the Belgian player was included in Everton’s starting lineup for their Premier League season opener on Saturday, where Sean Dyche’s team suffered a 1-0 defeat at home against Fulham.

Onana has the right profile to play for Man United

The youngster possesses an imposing presence as a central midfielder and has adapted well to the physical and high-paced nature of Premier League football during his tenure with Everton last season.

The Toffees would entertain the idea of parting with him only if any concerned suitor met their asking price, making him a costly signing. However, the value he brings justifies the expense.

Onana‘s exceptional physical attributes and athleticism address the recent midfield shortcomings at Man United. His ability to regain possession and drive the ball forward could significantly upgrade United’s gameplay through the midfield.

And if it is that huge sum that’s needed to sign the Belgian ace this summer, the United hierarchy should not hesitate to bring him to Old Trafford.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils prefer to stick with Amrabat for a much lesser price or sign a younger option in Onana.
