Chelsea’s summer recruitment isn’t yet done with the club eyeing several new signings, including Romeo Lavia, which would take their spending beyond £1bn under Todd Boehly.

Chelsea are still looking to add four more new arrivals this summer with Romeo Lavia among them.

The Blues, who have already spent huge sums to add the likes of Moises Caicedo, are looking to further bolster their ranks and landing the Southampton midfielder for £60m would push their spending in the Todd Boehly-era to £900m.

Mauricio Pochettino is also looking to bring in a goalkeeper to cover for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has joined Real Madrid on a season-long loan. As well as that two new attackers are on the club’s shopping list, as per the Athletic, with cover being sought for Christopher Nkunku, which would take the club’s spending close to – or beyond – the £1bn mark.

The former RB Leipzig star was a marquee signing but he suffered an injury blow before the season ever started, leaving the Blues light in the final third. Nicolas Jackson, who made his debut in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool, is among the options available to Pochettino.

Scoring goals was a major issue for the west Londoners last term and the addition of more firepower will aid their push for the top four. Already Robert Sanchez has been signed from Brighton and started in between the sticks on Sunday afternoon but competition is set to arrive.

Pochettino has confirmed that the club are looking for someone who can fill the void left by Nkunku: “We are working in the market also, trying to find a solution, maybe short term, medium and long term to find the right profile for the team.”

Chelsea’s free-spending nature has led to a huge overhaul of players, which negatively impacted their season last term. The likes of Enzo Fernandez, previously a British record transfer, and Mykhaylo Mudryk have both arrived for huge fees as questions are asked about whether the Blues are spending within the rules.
