Man Utd transfer round-up: Ryan Gravenberch price named as Saudis contact Raphael Varane.

Manchester United’s poor start to the Premier League season has turned the pressure dial up on Old Trafford chiefs to deliver a strong end to the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have just 10 days left to streamline Erik ten Hag’s squad, who’ve begun the 2023-24 campaign is dismal fashion. A fortunate 1-0 win against Wolves was followed by a limp 2-0 loss away to Tottenham, with fans and pundits alike questioning Ten Hag and his signings.

Midfield is an area of real concern – despite spending £55million to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea in July – and fans are urging United to bring in another playmaker, particularly one who can cover for Casemiro. There’s also the prospect of outgoings, with Mason Greenwood now confirmed to be one after the Red Devils announced their decision on his future.

Bayern name Gravenberch price

Bayern Munich want £22million if they’re to sell out-of-favour midfielder Ryan Gravenberch to Manchester United or Liverpool. Mirror Football understands that the two Premier League giants are locked in a battle over the 21-year-old Dutchman, whose Bayern career is yet to take flight following his move from Ajax last summer, making only three Bundesliga starts since.

Erik ten Hag brought Gravenberch into the first team in Amsterdam and wants to reunite with him at Old Trafford, just as he’s done with ex-Ajax trio Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Andre Onana. Liverpool, meanwhile, are desperate for midfield reinforcements and could hope to convince Bayern with a loan offer.

Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad have opened talks with Manchester United to discuss signing Raphael Varane, who’s given ‘positive indications’ regarding the potential transfer. That’s according to a report from Saudi Arabia, which adds that negotiations are in the preliminary stage.

It was claimed last week that Varane, 30, wants to spend at least one more season with United before thinking about his future. The former Real Madrid defender has two years remaining on his Red Devils contract and a move to Al Ittihad would see him link up with ex-France international team-mates Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.
