Most Real Madrid fans are hoping that the club go out and sign a centre-back this summer. That is because they lost arguably their best one for the foreseeable future, as Eder Militao tore his ACL in the first La Liga game of the season against Athletic Bilbao. It is very possible that he might not play again in this campaign. And recently, rumours have linked Los Blancos with a potential move for Gabriel Magalhaes of Arsenal.
Gabriel has been an important part of this Arsenal team since arriving in 2020. But he has found himself out of the starting XI in their opening two Premier League games of this season.
That combined with the rumours linking him with a move away from Arsenal has led to many fans questioning the future of Gabriel. Al-Ittihad and Real Madrid are both rumoured to hold an interest in the Brazilian centre-back. Yet, he looks set to remain in London.
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have no intention to transfer Gabriel. He is expected to stay at the club.
Arsenal make Gabriel decision amid Real Madrid links
Thus, it looks like Gabriel is not going to leave Arsenal this summer. To be honest, a move to Real Madrid this summer always felt unlikely.
On one hand, the club have been very careful when it comes to transfers in recent years. It would be unlike them to make a long-term signing like Gabriel because Militao got injured. On the other hand, it would be almost impossible to sign a key player away from a Premier League giant like Arsenal at this stage of the summer transfer window.
It is more than likely that Real Madrid will look towards Castilla in order to fill Militao’s void in the squad. And there have been suggestions that Marvel is set to be the club’s fourth centre-back this season.
