Burnley have had a €20 million (£17m) offer turned down for Johan Bakayoko.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has reported that PSV Eindhoven will demand more for the winger following rumours of Everton’s interest.

The Toffees are said to be one of a number of clubs interested in signing Bakayoko, though Burnley are the first to make a concrete approach.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut for PSV in March 2022 and enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign last season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in all competitions

Bakayoko also netted PSV’s second in their 2-1 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League in November, as well as earning his first four caps for Belgium and netting his first international goal against Estonia back in June.

The Belgian’s fine form has attracted plenty of interest and it was recently reported that Everton were considering a move for him as an alternative to their failed pursuit of Wilfried Gnonto.

With three years remaining on his contract in the Netherlands, it is no surprise that PSV are eager to make a hefty fee on his potential departure.

Everton will have to act fast if they want to beat Burnley to sign Johan Bakayoko next week

Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that the Dutch club don’t want to let Bakayoko leave before the second leg of their Champions League play-off match against Rangers on Wednesday evening.

This means that any deal for the youngster will have to be done on transfer deadline day, though it is thought that there hasn’t been any further movement on the Toffees’ end.

Everton have so far signed Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma, Youssef Chermiti and Jack Harrison this summer, leaving them still light up front. The Toffees have been trying to thrash out deals for Beto, Che Adams and Gnonto, but their doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel for Sean Dyche’s side.
