Marc Roca wages: How much is the Real Betis man earning amid “exceptional” displays away from Leeds United?

Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca is one of many players at the club who looked to swiftly jump ship after the side were relegated due to his and others’ woeful performances.

The Whites were bound to see a great number of their first team players leave the club over the course of the summer, but the manner in which it happened was sickening.

Marc Roca was one of the first out of the door as he moved to Real Betis on loan for the summer, part of the wave of exits on a temporary basis, seeing Leeds unable to bring in many fees at all for outbound players.

He has started life well with his new club, managed by Premier League winner Manuel Pellegrini, hopefully impressing enough to earn Leeds a decent fee in 2024.

Here, we look at how much the midfielder is earning as Betis take responsibility for his wages…

How is he getting on?

Having played a full 90 minutes in Real Betis’ opener against Villarreal, where they sealed a win in the 95th-minute away from home, he started again in midfield against Atletico Madrid at the Benito Villamarin.

A stalemate was played out between the two sides as Roca once again completed a full 90, something that took him until October to accomplish last season in the Premier League.

The Spaniard registered a passing accuracy of 89%, registering 80 touches, and winning 50% of his ground duels – per Sofascore.

Marca have now reviewed the match, starting off by claiming that Roca’s performance was “exceptional” in the middle of the park under Manuel Pellegrini:

“Marc Roca, in his second match as a Betis player, appeared for the first time before his audience at Benito Villamarín. And his work during the 90 minutes was exceptional for his team, forming a pair with Guido Rodríguez in the insurmountable double pivot for Atlético de Madrid.”

How much did Roca earn in the Premier League?

Having joined from Bayern Munich for a £10million fee, Capology claim that the Spaniard midfielder was earning a wage of £50,000-per-week as a Premier League player.

Pay cuts have been dished out to the Leeds squad after relegation, per The Athletic, meaning that the players lost 50-60% of their previous wages in the Championship.

That means Roca would have been in line to earn £20,000-£25,000 per week, unless his loan restores him to his previously agreed wage.

It was revealed by the LUFC Trust and Angus Kinnear that these loan exit clauses were the only way to have players agree to relegation wage cuts, meaning that letting them leave could see them back to their full earnings.
