Everton star Alex Iwobi has recently addressed links to Saudi Arabia as big-name players are being offered lucrative deals in the Kingdom.
The Nigeria international has rubbished any links with a move to the Middle East but has mentioned the ambition to play in the Champions League.
He also refused to commit his future to the Toffees and stated that his focus was solely on his national team.
He told Brila, “I won’t go to Saudi Arabia. I feel I have a lot to prove with my football and I will like to play in the Champions League.
“I have been told to focus on my football so whatever is happening is behind closed doors and I’ll leave it to my agent. I am here to do a job for my national team.”
His comments aren’t really reassuring in terms of him staying on at Goodison Park beyond the end of the transfer window.
Iwobi could’ve just batted the question and said that he’s happy at Everton and is looking forward to the next season.
Players leave even after saying such things but it at least reassures fans that he’s thinking of staying put at Goodison Park.
He has all but ruled out a move to Saudi Arabia but if a foreign club comes in and they can offer him Champions League football, he could be interested.
Everton are in no position to finish in the European spots, let alone the top four and if Iwobi has higher ambitions, he could ask his agent to find him a new club.
Everton are already in the market for two new attackers and if Iwobi leaves, they may need to bring in another one to the club.
