Jamie Carragher does not believe Mohamed Salah will be sold by Liverpool during the current transfer window – but has refused to rule out the idea of the Egyptian exiting next summer.

Jurgen Klopp reinforced this message when speaking at his press conference on Friday afternoon, highlighting the importance of the 31-year-old, though many heads have been turned by the riches of the Saudi Pro League in recent weeks.

But while the Reds boss accepts he is concerned about the financial power of the Saudi Pro League and the fact their window doesn’t shut until later that month, he has reiterated Salah’s commitment to the cause at Anfield.

The Egypt captain’s future has been the subject of surprise but intense debate in recent days, with reports from the Middle East claiming Saudi champions Al-Ittihad are ‘intensifying’ their interest in the Liverpool talisman ahead of next Friday’s European deadline.

Klopp believes clubs on the continent are sitting ducks for the Saudi Pro League once the window closes, given the deadline in the Middle East does not come around until later in September.
