Chelsea look set to miss out on the signing of Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson this summer and Tottenham have entered the conversation as a surprise late option for the Welsh forward.

Spurs are ready to make their move to sign the 22-year-old before the transfer window closes as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his attack following Harry Kane’s exit. The Blues, however, are hoping to sign a versatile forward capable of playing across the attack with injuries to Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broja holding Mauricio Pochettino back so far.

Johnson impressed last term and is now attracting interest from top Premier League clubs – with talks having already have been held with the Blues. Forest are looking to recoup a fee in the region of £50million for their star player.

With that said, football.london takes a look at the latest on moves for Johnson and whether he will make a move to London this summer.

Tottenham priority

Tottenham have made Johnson their priority for the final week of the summer window, football.london understands. After their 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday it has been revealed by Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold: “Understand Ange Postecoglou has made Brennan Johnson his number one attacking target for these final days of the window.

“Feels he’s the perfect fit for his Spurs system and versatile. Talks have taken place, tough deal to do though and it’s likely to be a late one if it happens.”

Tottenham bid ready

Tottenham are set to beat Chelsea to the signing of Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson before the summer transfer window closes.

Spurs are expected to submit a £50million bid to sign Johnson this week, according to The Telegraph. Tottenham could offer cash plus players, with centre-half Davinson Sanchez and winger Bryan Gil likely to be two players who could be part of any deal.

Andrey Santos impact

Andrey Santos has joined Nottingham Forest on loan for the 2023/24 campaign. The young Brazilian could have an impact on Forest’s decision whether to sell Brennan Johnson or not this summer given that they play in similar positions.

Steve Cooper’s experience in helping talented youngsters develop into top players could help Santos improve drastically this season before returning to Stamford Bridge next year.

Tottenham preference

Tottenham are preparing to launch their bid for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson, according to Mail Sport.

The Wales international is valued around £50million by Forest who have already rejected offers over £35million from Brentford this window.
