Arsenal have turned down the chance to sign Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson following Jurrien Timber’s injury.

Victor Nelsson has been put forward as a potential Arsenal signing but the Gunners have chosen not to make a move.

That is according to The Express, who claim that Arsenal were offered the chance to sign Nelsson as exploratory transfer talks were held.

We can only imagine that it was Nelsson’s representatives rather than Galatasaray themselves offering the Dane to Arsenal.

Arsenal learned the terms of deal though, and decided to back away from any potential deal.

Nelsson can leave Galatasaray for around £21million but Arsenal seemingly felt that the deal wasn’t right for them.

Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are claimed to have ‘expressed an interest’ in signing Nelsson.

Ekstra Bladet over in Nelsson’s native Denmark reported in July that the defender wants a move to Tottenham over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Spurs are in the market for another defender but seemingly haven’t advanced any move for Nelsson in the last six weeks or so.

Arsenal won’t be pushing for Nelsson in the coming days, unless Edu and Mikel Arteta have a major change of heart.

Who is Arsenal-linked Victor Nelsson?

Nelsson was in the ranks of hometown club Hornbæk IF before being plucked by Nordsjælland as a kid.

Nelsson made his way up through the Nordsjælland setup, racking up nearly 100 appearances for the Danish club.

Copenhagen pounced in 2019, with Nelsson continuing to shine in 86 appearances before attracting major interest.

Galatasaray won the race for Nelsson in 2021 and he has been a key player for the Turkish giants ever since.

Nelsson has also picked up 10 caps for Denmark and will no doubt earn plenty more in the coming years.

A 6ft 1in centre back, Nelsson is right-footed but has played on the left side, possibly bringing some flexibility to potential suitors.

Arsenal seemingly don’t think Nelsson is the right man for them and only time will tell whether Tottenham feel differently.
