Nottingham Forest have made their first official move to sign Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, according to reports.
City’s East Midlands rivals have been linked with an interest in the Nigerian in the final days of the transfer window. Some reports earlier this week even suggested that a deal was “close”.
Despite being linked with a move away, Ndidi was named on the bench for City’s Carabao Cup clash against Tranmere on Tuesday night. He came onto the pitch at half time with the score at 0-0, scoring and assisting in the second half as City came out as 2-0 winners.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, City have now received an “opening proposal” from Forest over a possible transfer. It is not said how much the offer is, but it is added that the two clubs are “starting negotiations”.
Ndidi has started all of City’s Championship games so far this season, but is facing competition for his starting place from Chelsea loanee Cesare Casadei. The midfielder has been playing in a more advanced role than what he is used to under Enzo Maresca.
