NEWS: Coventry City confirm Summer transfer window business concluded.

Coventry City can confirm that it has concluded its business, in and out, during the Summer Transfer Window.

A busy period has seen a total of 11 arrivals to the Sky Blues, with 9 players joining permanently and 2 arriving on loan.

The period kicked off with defender Jay Dasilva’s arrival from Bristol City, with striker Ellis Simms added to the squad at the start of July from Everton.

On 10th July, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto completed his move from Belgian club KV Oostende and goalkeeper Brad Collins linked up with City from Barnsley one week later.

Defensive reinforcements arrived in mid-July when the Sky Blues secured the signature of Joel Latibeaudiere, joining from Swansea City, and Bobby Thomas from Burnley plus wing back Milan Van Ewijk from Dutch side Heerenveen. Meanwhile, on 28th July, Luis Binks made the move to the Sky Blues on a season-long loan from the Italian side Bologna.

Moving into August, a 23-year-old transfer record was broken as Haji Wright joined Coventry City for a record fee from Antalyaspor in Turkey, and highly-rated Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari arrived on 21st August.

Concluding the Club’s business, Barnsley captain Liam Kitching joined the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee on deadline day.

Going the other way, striker Viktor Gyokeres joined Sporting Lisbon for a Club record fee in July and Gustavo Hamer moved to Sheffield United in August.

In June Josh Reid moved to Ross County, while a number of players left the Sky Blues following conclusion of their contracts – including first-team players Fankaty Dabo, Julien Dacosta, Todd Kane, Sean Maguire, Michael Rose, Martyn Waghorn and Tyler Walker.

Owner and Executive Chairman Doug King said:

“We can confirm we have concluded our business in the Summer transfer window.

“This has been a transitional window for the Club and a very busy period, with a high number of new arrivals to the squad.

“We have been able to add a great deal of quality right across the squad, meaning we have players throughout the team who can perform to a high level.

“We have been active throughout the period, spending money on transfer fees and breaking the Club record fee in the process.

“While we did explore more additions, it was important that these were the right ones and provided the necessary quality to the squad at the appropriate value for us.

“Our transfer activity this window would not have been possible without the support of fans purchasing Season Tickets and I would like to thank them for their support and for joining the journey, as we look forward to an exciting season.”
