Everton now keen to sign £44m Denzel Dumfries this summer.

Everton are now keen on signing Inter right-back Denzel Dumfries as the Blues look to rebuild under Sean Dyche this summer.

The Champions League finalist is reportedly valued at £44m by the Italian side, and Everton now look to secure his signature on the second attempt.

Indeed, Dumfries was heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park back in 2021, but reportedly turned the Toffees down in favour of a move to Inter.

The Dutch international was the subject of much transfer speculation two years ago, but eventually moved from PSV Eindhoven to Inter in a deal reported to be around £12.5m.

Speaking with Voetbal International back in 2021, the full-back admitted that he had turned Everton down and ‘didn’t think twice’ about joining Inter.

Dumfries said: “It took some time to close the deal, but when it happened, I had goosebumps.

I was talking to [my agent Mino] Raiola every day, I strongly wanted to join Inter. I had an offer from Everton, but I didn’t think twice about coming here (Inter).”

However, according to Calciomercato, Everton could now reignite their interest in Dumfries, though it seems the Dutchman remains unconvinced by the project at Goodison Park.

Dumfries to Everton would be a coup, but appears unlikely move for ambitious player

Indeed, the report states that while the Blues may see Dumfries as a potential option this summer, the 27-year-old prefers to stay at Inter, with Everton’s inability to compete for silverware a stumbling block.

At £44m, the right-back comes at a premium, one perhaps beyond Everton’s financial reach this summer, but if the club have the cash and can convince the player to join, Dumfries would be a marquee signing for Sean Dyche.

In 34 Serie A games for Inter last season, Dumfries scored once and provided seven assists, and with creativity an on-going problem at Goodison Park, such a player could be invaluable as Everton look to rebuild under Sean Dyche.
