Tom Lawrence discusses why his decision to join the Rangers was justified when it was questioned.
Tom Lawrence claims that after some “questioned” his decision to switch from English football to the Scottish leagues, the possibility of significant European evenings at Ibrox has vindicated his decision to join Rangers.
Despite missing most of the previous season owing to injury, the Welsh international midfielder, 29, moved from Derby County to Rangers in the summer of 2022. The former Manchester United trainee, who began last weekend’s 2-0 victory over St. Johnstone while completely recovered, is anticipated to play a significant role for Michael Beale’s squad when their Europa League campaign gets underway against Real Betis on Thursday night at Ibrox.
Lawrence admitted that last year, some people questioned his decision to move up north, but he believes that European games like Rangers’ meeting against La Liga team Betis prove that he made the correct choice. European football played a significant role in Lawrence’s first decision to go here. Additionally, you get the impression that it’s unlike any other club when you move up from England. Ibrox is amazing. Sometimes I don’t think it receives the justice it merits, especially from English folks. I was so stunned when I first arrived here that I just wanted to sign.
