Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer from Juventus.

A report from Fichajes claims Ange Postecoglou is looking to bring in a top-class central defender and Tottenham would be ‘willing’ to offer more than €40 million for the player.

Bremer has been a key player for Juventus since joining the club and he is one of the leaders in the dressing room.

The 26-year-old is an indispensable asset for Max Allegri and it remains to be seen whether the Italian outfit are ready to sell him.

Apparently, Tottenham want to close his arrival ‘as soon as possible’ and there are other Premier League clubs interested in signing the South American defender.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can beat the competition from their rivals and sign the player this summer.

They have signed the likes of Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips during the summer transfer window and adding another quality central defender to their defensive unit could give them a formidable squad to compete with.

Tottenham conceded 63 goals in the league last season and they will have to improve on the department if they want to compete for major trophies. Players like Eric Dier have been linked with moves away from the club and Spurs will need to replace him adequately if he leaves the club in January.

It remains to be seen whether they can get a deal for Bremer across the line.
