Wolves put in their best performance of the season to beat Manchester City last weekend – and the club have released the touch map of Matheus Cunha from the game.

Wanderers got three huge points thanks to a perfectly executed game plan at Molineux.

Pedro Neto forced an own goal from Ruben Dias, with Hwang Hee-chan grabbing the winner in the second-half after Julian Alvarez had equalised.

There were so many fantastic individual performances.

Neto and Hwang have been getting most of the plaudits.

But there was also a top performance from Cunha – and his touch map really does tell the story of his afternoon…

Wolves release Matheus Cunha touch map from Manchester City game

Hwang and Neto were both outstanding on Saturday.

But the third forward Cunha must also come in for high praise.

He’s taken a bit of stick in recent weeks for not being prolific in front of goal.

But no one can ever accuse him of not working his socks off for the team.

Cunha was deployed as a central striker again on Saturday, but it felt like he was everywhere.

And the touch map provided by Wolves supports this, with the Brazilian picking the ball up all over the pitch.

But of course, one of the most crucial touches he made was right on the six-yard line when he smartly laid the ball off to Hwang to score.

Cunha deserves huge praise for his performance against City

Cunha really was brilliant against City.

And after the game, O’Neil was extremely pleased with the star, saying (via The Athletic): “Matheus Cunha carried out the most disciplined game plan I’ve ever seen from him. He was incredible.”

He carried out his job perfectly.

Cunha still has a lot of work to do on his finishing.

But in terms of his pressing, dribbling and linking play, he really is an excellent footballer.
