The Times have claimed that Sporting Lisbon are plotting a January move to re-sign Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur.
Dier has not played a single minute so far this season and has even been left out of the matchday squad on a few occasions, but Ange Postecoglou explained last week that the reason for the omission was that the centre-back was dealing with some niggles (Football.London).
The Spurs boss further explained that he had not had any conversations with the 29-year-old, and he is in the same boat as the other players.
Sporting Lisbon are eyeing an Eric Dier reunion
The Times have now claimed that Sporting have internally discussed the idea of bringing the Tottenham man back to Lisbon.
With the England international’s contract ending next summer, it is said that the Portuguese club could make a reduced offer for the player in January.
The report asserts that Dier, who came through the ranks of Sporting’s academy, has a good relationship with the club’s current president, Frederico Varandas, and is keen on the idea of playing abroad.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs will likely be happy to sell Dier for a cut-price fee in January, given that he looks set to leave on a free next summer. So, if the 29-year-old is open to returning to Sporting, I do not see Tottenham standing in his way.
