Collingwood has today welcomed forward Lachie Shultz who has signed with the Club.

Shultz returns home to Victoria as part of a deal that sees Fremantle receive pick 34 in this year’s AFL National Draft and a Future First Round Selection.

Shultz arrives at Collingwood following five years with the Dockers.

Since being drafted to the side in 2018, the small forward has played 90 AFL games and kicked 101 goals.

For two consecutive years, Shultz was awarded the Glendinning-Allan Medal – the best on ground for the Western Australian Derby match. In Round 22 this season he was instrumental in Fremantle’s five-goal victory against the West Coast Eagles with 24 disposals.

This year the dynamic forward kicked 33 goals from 23 games. He polled equal sixth in Fremantle’s best and fairest count, a top 10 finish for the second consecutive year.

Shultz thanked Fremantle for the past five years.

“I’d like to thank Fremantle for my time at the club and for coming to an arrangement with Collingwood,” Shultz said.

“The Dockers gave me my first football opportunity, and I will be forever grateful for my time there. I would not be the player I am today without the support of the football staff and players.

“Family is important to me and is one of the reasons I have decided to make the move back to Victoria.

“There is something special about the Pies – they have experienced ultimate success – and this is something I hope to one day be a part of. I am excited to pull on the black and white stripes next year.”

Collingwood GM of Football Graham Wright welcomed Shultz to Olympic Park.

“We are pleased to have come to terms with Fremantle for Lachie and look forward to welcoming him and his family to the Club in the coming weeks,” Wright said.

“We feel Lachie’s football talent and forward craft combined with his speed, power, and endurance, make him an exciting acquisition for our football program.”
