Chelsea could have to pay around £130m to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen next year.
That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Jacobs recently reported on his Substack that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants a fee as close to €150m (£130m) as possible for Victor Osimhen, who continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea.
It is not the kind of deal that you normally see happen in January, but Jacobs says it cannot be completely ruled out and claims that the Blues have an interest in the 24-year-old.
Chelsea have not been afraid to spend big in the winter transfer window under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
The Blues, of course, smashed their transfer record at the start of the year when they signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £107m, as reported by BBC Sport.
Victor Osimhen could cost Chelsea £130m
It is a massive amount of money, but if Chelsea can spend over £100m on a midfielder like Fernandez, for example, would it be a shock to see them go all out for a world-class forward? Probably not.
Osimhen wins you games, with the Nigerian scoring 26 goals in 32 league appearances last season to help Napoli claim the Serie A title.
On that note, he may be one of few players who is actually worth a £100m-plus price tag.
For that amount of money, the Nigeria international would still be a risk. But risk-taking has really not been a problem for Boehly and Clearlake Capital since they came to west London.
