Sheffield United are a club who are well known for bringing through and developing exciting young talents.
A host of internationals have emerged from the United academy. The likes of Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire and Phil Jagielka played for England regularly and more recently, Iliman Ndiaye has shone.
And that trend looks set to continue with young striker, Ryan One. The Blades paid six-figures to land him from Hamilton over the summer and he’s already catching the eye of Paul Heckingbottom.
Ryan One impressing at Sheffield Utd
Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Heckingbottom has confirmed he’s kept a close eye on One and admitted to being impressed by the young forward already.
“Yeah, we like what we have seen. He has a good football brain and has shown moments where he handles the ball well. Physically we can see what he can potentially be but he’s nowhere near where that is yet,” Heckingbottom said.
“He has come in and found the level and the intensity a big step but I have seen in the games that I have already watched him in that he is quickly coming to terms with that. We are pleased with what we have got.”
Sheffield Unted News View: Another to keep a close eye on
The Blades are continuing to bring young players along and it’s no surprise to see Ryan One making a big impression early on in his career.
His exposure to first-team football in Scotland will have given him a bit of a leg up on some of his teammates at youth level. And those who have seen the clips of his goals so far will recognise the pace and power he already has in abundance.
Much like Daniel Jebbison and Will Osula, One looks a player with the right physical attributes to go far in the game.
Quite if he’ll get a chance this year, remains to be seen. But should United be relegated, then we can perhaps expect to see One in and around the first-team next season.
