Mario Cristobal gave an encouraging update on both of Miami’s starting cornerbacks at his weekly press conference on Monday.
Both Jaden Davis and Daryl Porter Jr. were forced to leave the NC State game due to injury over the weekend. However, Cristobal indicated both will have a chance to play on Saturday vs. Florida State.
Cristobal said Davis is fine and that he is “optimistic” about Porter’s status going into the week.
If both Davis and Porter are able to return for the FSU game, it would be a big boost for a Miami secondary that has been strong so far in 2023. Davis and Porter form one of the top cornerback duos in the ACC.
It’s especially important as Florida State has two of the top receivers in the country in Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman. However, both Wilson and Coleman missed FSU’s Week 10 contest vs. Pittsburgh. Their status is also to-be-determined this week.
Miami will be trying to avenge its 45-3 home loss to FSU from last season.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
