Daniel Farke is staying out of discussions surrounding Everton’s Premier League punishment and the reports of Leeds United’s potential legal action. Speaking for the first time since the news broke, Farke was asked about the situation on Wednesday afternoon and he refused to give an opinion, insisting the issue does not involve him.

The Toffees were deducted 10 Premier League points last week after being found to have breached the league’s profit and sustainability rules over a three-year period. During that time Everton narrowly avoided relegation and a handful of the clubs that went down are said to be pursuing compensation.

Leeds are one of those clubs, along with Burnley and Leicester City, with the trio supposedly looking to sue Everton to cover the loss of Premier League income. As such, a figure of £100m each has been touted and while Everton plan to lodge an appeal against the decision, the three clubs are reportedly now keen to press ahead with legal action.

The issue could drag out for some time, then, but seemingly Farke has no desire to be drawn on it or involve himself in any way.

“No, I don’t comment on this decision,” Farke said on Wednesday afternoon in his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s trip to Rotherham United. “I was not involved last season, I was preparing for games against Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Everton was not my problem last season.

“Right now, they are playing in a different league. No comment from my side. It’s a topic for everyone who was involved and has more knowledge about the topic. I only know what I read in the media. I am not involved.”
