Newcastle may be able to acquire a £17 million striker for a discount thanks to the club’s financial position.

Spanish side Sevilla have put their entire squad on the transfer list in a desperate attempt to raise funds which could be good news for Newcastle United who have their eye one of their striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

It was just last week that Newcastle United were linked with Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri and now a few days on, the Magpies could land themselves a bargain.

According to a report in The Express, Sevilla’s financial situation has seen them put all of their squad in the shop window so that they can raise enough cash to save the club.

Newcastle need cover for Isak and Wilson and En-Nesyri would be ideal

With Newcastle looking for a striker to cover Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak next season they could now bring in En-Nesyri for just £17million.

Arsenal held an interest in En-Nesyri last year and he carried a £40million price-tag at that time backed up by a £67million release clause. So £17million seems like an absolute snip for the Moroccan forward.

En-Neysri scored 18 goals for Sevilla last season and the 26-year-old was also part of the Moroccan team that captured the hearts of the world at the 2022 World Cup where he also scored a couple of goals.

En-Nesyri won’t be an exciting signing but definitely a clever one

Signing En-Nesyri could also give Eddie Howe another option up front as his play style is different to both Wilson and Isak. He plays more like a target man who can hold up play for other players to get into dangerous positions, he’s also dangerous in the air which could come in very handy with deliveries coming into the box from Kieran Trippier and Sandro Tonali‘s set pieces.

I don’t think Newcastle would have entertained spending £40million on En-Nesyri, but at £17million he could be worth a punt, even if it’s just to get a cheap cover in for the main strikers with a view to another big-name signing in that position next summer.

This looks like a one that could happen especially given Sevilla’s current predicament.
