Man Utd fight for £25m Martinez

Manchester United are prepared to fight Chelsea for Aston Villa’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, according to reports in Argentina.

It is claimed Erik ten Haag is a big fan of the 31-year-old who has a contract with Aston Villa that runs until 2027. A bid of around £25m could be enough to interest Villa, with Martinez said to want Champions League football.

Extrovert Martinez is described be team-mates as a “unique” character and is one of the best shot-stoppers in the business.

Szoboszlai medical scheduled today

Liverpool are on the brink of signing £60m-rated midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, with an initial medical taking place today.

Highly-regarded football journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Understand Liverpool have scheduled first part of the medical tests for Dominik Szoboszlai today after €70m release clause triggered on Friday. #LFC Documents being checked while Szoboszlai will do all medical tests then be unveiled as new Liverpool player.”

It comes after the RB Leipzig man’s £60m release cluse was triggered on Friday.

Meanwhile, transfer expert Ben Jacobs claims that Liverpool are still in the market for Kephren Thuram too.

Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “He is on the radar of Liverpool and he’s a very talented young player as well. I still think they’re in the market in addition for Khephren Thuram as well.

“Whereas with Manu Kone, even though the player was discussed internally, I don’t think the pursuit there is as active anymore at this stage.”

Winks leaves Tottenham

Leicester have announced the signing of Harry Winks from Tottenham for a fee in the region of £10million.

The 27-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal at the Foxes – and becomes their first summer signing ahead of the 2023/24 Championship campaign.

After his move was confirmed, Winks told the club’s website: “I’m delighted. I’m really excited for the challenge ahead. It’s an amazing club with great history and the facilities are incredible. I’m just so happy to be here and ready to get going.

“I’m looking forward to getting started, to have a full pre-season with the team and come here early to get ready for the games coming up.
