Reports in Italy have suggested that Manchester United have had a bid rejected for Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United have had a €35million (£30m) bid rejected by Atalanta for their young striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The 20-year-old has been a target for Erik ten Hag following the acceptance that a Harry Kane move is unlikely to materialise.
The report comes in the Il Corriere dello Sport printed version (page 4) via Football Italia, which adds that La Dea are wanting at least €45m (£38.6m) for the coveted Danish striker.
This represents a large drop in demands, compared to what Atalanta were supposedly asking for a few weeks ago, with €60m (£52m) being quoted.
Hojlund is an incredibly exciting prospect, and has recently put himself in the shop window with six goals for Denmark in his last four games.
The report also adds that United could face competition from Juventus for the striker. Juventus would have to sell Dusan Vlahovic before being able to bid.
The latest with Manchester United’s transfer business
The transfers around United have really began to heat up in the last week. To begin with, a deal for Mason Mount was agreed on Thursday, with the medical scheduled for Monday.
The deal for the Englishman will cost United £55m plus £5m in add-ons, however will be a huge boost for Erik ten Hag who has got his top target.
Following this, it is also confirmed that United are expected to bid for Andre Onana in the coming days. Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta via Fabrizio Romano revealed the United interest is real and negotiations are ongoing.
So in less than a week, United have gone from looking like a lost cause, to now nearly having two key deals completed. It appears the forward often nicknamed the “next Haaland” is next and with the quoted price, it could be done sooner than later.
Especially as current United star and Hojlund’s Denmark teammate Christian Eriksen has already thrown his approval behind Hojlund’s signing.
