USC football added to its coaching support staff with the hire of former Oklahoma wide receiver Spence Jones, who will work with the wide receivers. Jones posted on his social media on Sunday morning of the move.

Jones comes to USC after a stint with New Mexico State for close to a year where he served as an offensive analyst. Prior to that he was an offensive graduate assistant at University of North Carolina of Charlotte.

Jones was a dual-threat quarterback coming out of high school, signing with Liberty and moving to wide receiver. He eventually transferred to Oklahoma as a walk-on. Jones played for head coach Lincoln Riley, also serving as the team’s placeholder on field goals.

During the 2021 season, Jones was involved in an altercation in a bar fight that resulted in Jones suffering major damage to his left eye. He underwent successful surgery to reconstruct the orbital socket. No charges were filed in the case.
