BREAKING NEWS: UNC Players Explain How Georgia Tech Loss Prepares Them for Duke!!!

North Carolina had its 10-game win streak snapped at Georgia Tech, 74-73, on Tuesday as RJ Davis’ go-ahead field goal attempt at the end of regulation fell short after absorbing contact from Yellow Jackets forward Ebenezer Dowuona. Davis and teammates Armando Bacot and Harrison Ingram addressed how the loss will affect the team’s mentality as UNC prepares for Saturday’s marquee home matchup against rival Duke.

“We’ve got to soak this one in,” Bacot said after the game. “We’ve got to really feel this one and move on at practice tomorrow. We have a big game coming up on Saturday. We have to be ready for that.”

The Tar Heels’ trio went in-depth on what went wrong in Atlanta and how they can right the ship before Saturday’s game. They also revealed their thoughts on the controversial no-call on Davis’ final shot, among other things. Here’s what Bacot, Davis and Ingram had to say after the Georgia Tech loss:

INITIAL THOUGHTS ON THE LOSS TO GEORGIA TECH

Bacot: “It was tough. I definitely didn’t want to come in and lose. We just have to learn from it and grow. In games like this, we’ve got to come in with a killer mentality, and we’ve got to put them away. First half, we went up 11. That’s when we’ve got to show our killer instinct. We let them stick around and hit tough shots. I got switched onto the guard at the end, and he made a tough, left-hand floater.”

Davis: “It was definitely a rough one. It is not the type of game that you would want to lose. Credit to Georgia Tech; they outplayed us. I don’t think our defensive rotations were there. We weren’t really getting to the ball. That is my fault. That allowed them to get easy layups or dump it down low to the big. We had a lot of silly turnovers in the first half and bad shots.”
