Gold reveals Tottenham have allowed Ryan Sessegnon to find a new club
Tottenham Hotspur’s left-back, Ryan Sessegnon, is facing an uncertain future at the club, according to journalist Alasdair Gold.
Sessegnon’s arrival at Spurs from Fulham for a significant fee of £25 million has not unfolded as anticipated. The young player has encountered challenges securing a regular place in the starting lineup, a situation that has persisted under various managers.
Antonio Conte’s tenure at Tottenham saw a shift in the tactical approach, with the full-back role being replaced by a wing-back position. This alteration further complicated Sessegnon’s quest for consistent game time, as Ivan Perisic became the preferred choice for the Italian manager.
To compound matters, Sessegnon has been plagued by injuries, hampering his progress and raising concerns about his long-term prospects at the club. Alasdair Gold expressed scepticism about Sessegnon’s future, suggesting that a move away from Tottenham might be necessary for the player to establish himself and gain regular playing time.
Gold highlighted the presence of other left-back options at the club, including Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie. He even mentioned the potential acquisition of Micky Van de Ven, who is capable of occupying the left-back position.
However, recent developments have diminished Sessegnon’s chances of securing a transfer during this window. The player recently underwent surgery, which is projected to keep him sidelined until September.
As a result, interested clubs are likely to halt their pursuit of Sessegnon for the time being. The road ahead appears challenging for the 23-year-old left-back as he embarks on the road to recovery.
