DETROIT — The Detroit Tigers claimed right-handed reliever Ty Adcock off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on Monday.

Adcock had been designated for assignment by the Mariners on April 8 amid a bullpen shakeup.

The Tigers optioned Adock to Triple-A Toledo. No corresponding move was required; the Tigers had a vacancy after parting ways with right-hander Miguel Diaz at the end of spring training.

Adcock, 27, was drafted by the Mariners in the eighth round out of Elon University in 2019.

He made his big-league debut last year, posting a 3.45 ERA in 15 2/3 innings. He’s primarily a two-pitch pitcher, according to Baseball Savant, with a 96 mph fastball that was his most effective pitch. All four home runs he allowed last year came on his slider.

Adcock also served as a catcher and outfielder in college, although he’s been exclusively a pitcher in pro ball.

The Tigers’ 40-man roster is now full.
