Weber State senior Winston Reid is Cleveland bound!
Reid, a senior linebacker for the Wildcats, signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns following the 2024 NFL Draft.
Reid finished his Wildcat career in 2023 as a two-time All-American. He also was a two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection and twice served as a Wildcat team captain.
He played in 47 career games as a Wildcat. He finished his career second in Weber State history in career solo tackles with 170. He totaled 281 career tackles, just outside the top 10, and had 28.5 tackles for loss with seven sacks. He also finished his career tied for the Weber State all-time lead in forced fumbles with nine.
During the 2023 season, Reid earned multiple All-America honors and was a first-team All-Big Sky selection. He led the conference and was eighth in the nation in tackles per game at 10.7. He also finished fifth in the country and led the conference in solo tackles with 68. He finished with 118 tackles on the year and was also fifth in the Big Sky in tackles for loss with 12.
Reid was named the National Player of the Week after Weber State’s win over No. 4 Idaho where he had a career-high 17 tackles. He had 10 or more tackles in six games during the season. He also had one interception which he returned 40 yards for a touchdown to help lead the Wildcats to a win over Northern Colorado.
Weber State currently has four players on NFL rosters, including Taron Johnson with the Buffalo Bills and Rashid Shaheed with the New Orleans Saints, who both earned NFL All-Pro honors last season. Jonah Williams (Vikings) and Sua Opeta (Buccaneers) are also both on NFL rosters and have moved to new teams for the 2024 season.
