Rangers boss Michael Beale admits there have been a number of enquiries for Leeds United linked midfielder Glen Kamara. The 27-year-old was left out of the Gers squad to face Newcastle United in pre-season for Allan McGregor’s testimonial raising questions over his immediate future at the club.
Daniel Farke’s side are in desperate need of midfield additions and the approval of the 49ers Enterprises takeover should act as a catalyst for the Whites’ transfer business to start. Leeds are reportedly closing in on a deal for versatile Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu and interest in Kamara has heightened since being the green light by the EFL.
Beale moved to ease Rangers’ supporters’ fear revealing that Kamara had been ill over the last few days and wasn’t ready to face the Magpies.
However, the Ibrox boss also said there had been a few enquiries relating to Kamara, with Leeds set to face competition to sign the Finland international. Kamara has made almost 200 appearances for the Gers since signing from Dundee in 2019 and remains a vital part in their midfield.
“There’s been quite a few enquiries for Glen,” said Beale. “We gave him an extended break due to his international stuff in the summer and unfortunately he’s been ill the last few days so he didn’t come to Germany with us.
“He’s due to return to training in the coming days and that’ll be ongoing, the speculation.”
Kamara would fit the bill for Leeds in midfield, with the Whites short of options following the end of Weston McKennie’s loan and Brenden Aaronson, Robin Koch and Marc Roca’s departures.
