Texas A&M football included in top 8 for Lamont Rogers; Will Aggies end up securing commitment from premier OT?
One of the most promising areas for Texas A&M football in the upcoming cycle is at offensive tackle. The Aggies have already notched four commitments along the offensive front, and they are sitting in a great position with several top targets.
The class of 2025 in the state of Texas is replete with elite talent at offensive tackle, which helps a lot here. Michael Fasusi and Ty Haywood are two names in DFW alone that are numbered among the five-star ranks, and the Aggies have notched several visits from both of them over the past couple of months.
Right up there with them is Mesquite Horn OT Lamont Rogers. Though Texas A&M football has had to make up major ground with Fasusi and Haywood coming off of the Jimbo tenure, the Aggies have long been a big player in this one.
Rogers released a list of his top eight schools today, and Texas A&M football was named among that group.
The other schools named are Missouri, the hometown SMU Mustangs, Texas, Florida State, LSU, OU, and Tennessee. Of that group, the in-state Longhorns and neighboring LSU Tigers seem to be the main competition for the Aggies, who may well have the pole position as things stand.
This will be a heavyweight fight until the end, no doubt, but I like where the Aggies are right now. The insiders, specifically Jason Howell of Texags, have been all over this recruitment, and have been hinting that A&M has been one of the main contenders in this race for quite some time.
If the Aggies get Rogers on board, that would be a huge achievement. He is talented enough to anchor a big time offensive line class. Unbelievably, though, it’s not out of the question that A&M could land both him and another one of those top names I mentioned. If they did that, this could end up being an OL class the likes of which we haven’t seen since Mike Sherman was on the recruiting trail for the Ags.
