Tottenham gazump Man Utd for top striker target as Levy opens talks for electric €80m-rated Harry Kane successor.

Tottenham are reportedly planning for life after Harry Kane after their club owners greenlighted his sale and also cleared the way over the signing of Randal Kolo Muani as his replacement in a club-record deal.

The England striker is very much at a career crossroads with his deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expiring in 12 months time. Understandably, interest in the club’s all-time leading goalscorer is strong, despite Daniel Levy’s insistence that he won’t be leaving on the cheap.

To that end, the main interest in his services comes from Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga champions already having two offers rejected.

But Bayern are refusing to give in, with reports over the weekend suggesting Kane’s wife, Kate Goodland, has been seen househunting in the Bavaria countryside.

And with claims gathering that Kane has given Bayern his word, the German giants are reportedly readying a third offer to twist Spurs’ arm.

To that end, Tottenham owner Joe Lewis has gone over Levy’s head by vowing to sell Kane this summer if the striker does not commit to a new deal.

To add further credence to claims Kane could depart N7 this summer, reports in Germany claim Spurs are planning for life after their talismanic frontman by targeting a move for Kolo Muani.

The brilliant France striker enjoyed a superb 2022/23 season for Eintracht Frankfurt, having arrived on a free-transfer from Nantes.

Indeed, he has a hefty 40-goal involments (23 goals and 17 assists) across 46 appearances during a stellar season in the Bundesliga.

That form has alerted him to several high-profile suitors with PSG and Bayern Munich among those keen on the 24-year-old.

Tottenham chasing club-record deal for Randal Kolo Muani

Manchester United have also been strongly linked with a move for the striker with Erik ten Hag a huge fan of the nine-times capped Les Bleus star.

United’s focus, though, remains on securing a deal for Rasmus Hojlund, despite Atalanta’s determination to hang on for as much as €100m (£86.5m).

And that decision has seemingly opened the door for Spurs to pounce for a move.

Per French journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Tottenham have made Kolo Muani their ‘priority target’ to succeed Kane.

Describing their interest as ‘huge’, he claims talks with the player representatives have already opened. And he also states the move has been given the greenlight by club owners ENIC, who are now on board with both the sale of Kane and purchase of Kolo Muani.

In addition, and while he claims Tottenham are yet to contact Frankfurt over the deal, he claims the north London side have been lifted by claims that Kolo Muani is keen to make the move.

It’s claimed though that Frankfurt are open to the sale of the 24-year-old, if their €80m (£69m) valuation is met.

The deal, should it go through, will be a new club-record for Tottenham, eclipsing the £55m paid to Lyon for Tanguy Ndombele.
