Sheffield Wednesday are preparing for another season in the Championship this summer.

Danny Rohl’s side narrowly avoided relegation last season after looking destined to go down. The German coach managed to turnaround the club fully earning many plaudits while doing so.

The Owls are taking no prisoners this summer as they have already made inroads in the summer transfer window adding some top talent to their ranks as they set their sights on the top half of the Championship.

Miller, 28, spent last season playing at Home Park for Plymouth Argyle. The versatile left-sided player appeared in 34 Championship games for the Pilgrims last season.

They narrowly avoided relegation as well surviving by just a point on the final day.

Miller’s contract expires at the end of the month and after talks stalled it seems he is likely to leave on a free transfer.

Stoke City were the last team to register interest in Miller. They joined Portsmouth, Preston North End and Oxford United in the race for him.

Now, Sheffield Wednesday have entered the frame as the Owls hope to secure a deal ahead of the competition.

Sheffield Wednesday appear to be the club to go to at the moment. Rohl has the ability to attract players that wouldn’t usually sign for a relegation-threatened side and his style of football and coaching approach is clearly exciting not just fans but players as well.

Stoke City, Oxford United and Portsmouth are all set to compete in the Championship next season. The Potters struggled last time around and once again registered a bottom half finish.

Pompey and The U’s are both newly promoted and Miller on a free would have been a shrewd bit of business as they look to establish themselves back at this level. However, the introduction of the Owls will make that harder to pull off and they may need to move onto other targets this summer.

The sky is the limit

Sheffield Wednesday really are the team to watch this season. They played some very good football last time around under Rohl and they’ve only added to the quality in their squad this summer.

There is still a long way to go and they will need a few more new faces, but the early signs are promising and they really could fly up the table this season.

Miller would be a decent addition. The 28-year-old has only played one Championship season in his career, but he has experience in League One and in Scotland and he would add experience to Sheffield Wednesday’s dressing room next season.
