Tottenham Hotspur signed the talented young Senegal midfielder Pape Matar Sarr back in August 2021.

The midfielder has made just 11 Premier League appearances for them since then.

Newly appointed Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has now confirmed that the midfielder is certainly a part of his plans and he has also hinted that the 20-year-old could be an important part of the squad.

The Australian manager heaped praise on the talented young midfielder and also hailed his attitude.

Postecoglou believes that the 20-year-old is a great talent and he is a key part of the exciting and talented group at Tottenham.

He said to Football London: “Absolutely. What a player. He never stops smiling, what else do you want from a footballer? He’s outstanding and he’s always happy. I’ve seen plenty of outstanding players who are fairly miserable. He’s a great talent. That part really excited me at the moment that we have a clutch with Destiny, Pappy, Skippy. We’ve got a talented and very exciting group there. There’s some real growth there for us apart from establishing a team that can make an impact straight away.”

The 20-year-old midfielder will be hoping to get ample first-team action at Tottenham next season and it remains to be seen whether Postecoglou is prepared to give him the opportunities in needs.

The Senegal international was on loan at French club Metz during the 2021-22 season and he was a regular starter for them. He will be hoping to continue his development with regular football at the London club now.

He was rated highly during his time in France and he has the potential to develop into a top-class player in the near future.

However, he will need the trust of his manager and regular opportunities in order to fulfil his potential in the coming seasons.

Tottenham definitely need more options in the midfield, especially if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves the club this summer. The departure of the Denmark international could hand the 20-year-old ample opportunities next season.
