AGENT CONFIRMS £13M TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TRANSFER HAS FALLEN THROUGH.

The agent of Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez has confirmed that his £13 million move to Russian Premier League outfit Spartak Moscow has now fallen through.

After Spartak had a 15 million euro offer accepted by the London giants earlier this week – per the Evening Standard – Tottenham’s long-serving Colombia international looked set to secure a move to the Russian capital despite interest from an ambitious Galatasaray outfit.

Davinson Sanchez stuck at Tottenham

According to The Guardian, the Premier League would ‘strongly discourage’ Tottenham from taking Russian money at a time in which Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine remains ongoing.

And while Davinson Sanchez’s agent did not explicitely confirm why his client would not be heading to Moscow – the player himself may have had reservations of his own – what is certain is that the former Ajax man will remain a Spurs player for a while longer yet.

“Yes, indeed, this is the end of the negotiations,” Fernando Villarreal tells Euro Football Russia.

Villarreal’s comments come shortly after Spartak Moscow’s sporting director – Oleg Malyshev – confirmed his desire to bring the 27-year-old to Russia.

“I would not like to comment until a final decision is made,” Malyshev explained to RB Sport. “We are considering options for strengthening the defence. We are interested in this player. But I won’t tell the details.”

Spartak may now turn their attention to Celtic’s Carl Starfelt.

Starfelt, formerly of Rubin Kazan, has shone at Parkhead but may be allowed to leave after the Scottish Premiership champions brought in Maik Nawrocki from Polish outfit Legia Warsaw.

Tottenham, meanwhile, remain in the market for ‘at least one’ new centre-half, regardless of whether Sanchez stays or goes. That is according to their straight-talking head coach Ange Postecoglou; patience required as moves for Micky van de Ven or Edmond Taposba progress at a snail’s pace.
