The fourth former Texas transfer of this current offseason has signed with Nevada ahead of the 2024 season.

Former Texas football third-year defensive lineman Kris Ross has joined the Nevada Wolfpack, according to Nevada’s official roster for the 2024 season. Ross is listed as No. 97 on Nevada’s 2024 football roster.

Ross joined the Wolfpack and new head coach/former Texas co-DC/LB coach Jeff Choate via the transfer portal this offseason. He left the Texas program last fall before officially entering the transfer portal in December 2023.

Choate has added many former Longhorns transfers from the portal to fill out his roster on both sides of the ball entering the 2024 season. Ross joins former Texas running back Savion Red, running back Ky Woods, and defensive back Kitan Crawford among Choate and the Wolfpack’s portal additions from the Longhorns this offseason.

Ross appeared in four games over two seasons at Texas. He saw the field for five defensive snaps during his true freshman campaign in 2022, all coming against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in the regular season opener.

He also got 50 defensive snaps over three games played in 2023, including over a dozen in the season opener against the Rice Owls and in the Week 2 win in Tuscaloosa over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Over his two seasons at Texas, Ross registered two quarterback pressures, one tackle, and one defensive stop.

Ross was one of over 20 blue-chip recruits that signed with Texas’s 2022 recruiting class that ranked fifth nationally in the 247Sports Composite. He ranked as the No. 250 recruit nationally in the 2022 class in the 247Sports Composite, No. 33 defensive lineman, and No. 39 from Texas.
