Mason Greenwood will discover his Manchester United future before the Premier League season starts, talkSPORT understands.

United plan to announce the findings of their six-month internal investigation into Greenwood before they play Wolves on August 14.

The CPS dropped all the charges against Greenwood, including attempted rape, in February but he has not returned to training with his teammates.

He has been suspended since his initial arrest 18 months ago – with the forward not playing since the club’s 1-0 win over West Ham on January 22, 2022.

Greenwood still has a contract until June 2025 and was named in the club’s retained list at the end of last season.

A number of clubs in Europe have expressed an interest in signing Greenwood on loan.

Atalanta has been mooted as a possible destination, with striker Rasmus Hojlund heading in the other direction to Man United.

Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are also reported to have made contact.

One of the club’s main sponsors, adidas, recently had to release a statement denying reports that they were backing his return to the first team.

Reports in The Sun claimed that Greenwood is desperate to make a return for Man United.

The 21-year-old has been with the Red Devils since the age of six, scoring 35 goals in 129 games.
