Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto is unlikely to move to Everton this month, with the Toffees beginning to turn their attention to Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana.

A lot of what Leeds have wanted to do this summer in the transfer window has been dominated by the outgoings that have already been sanctioned – or could in the coming weeks.

The attack that Daniel Farke has at his disposal is as talented as any in the division this summer, but that comes synonymously with transfer interest from the top flight.

Willy Gnonto to Everton off?

It was reported back in July that Everton had tabled an opening bid of £15million to sign Leeds winger Willy Gnonto.

Unsurprisingly, the bid was swiftly turned down by Leeds as they aim to either hold out for a much greater sum, or keep the 19-year-old altogether.

The Daily Mail are now reporting of a major transfer boost for Leeds, with the Toffees seemingly giving up on trying to sign Gnonto.

That is because they are starting to turn their attention to Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana instead, another from a relegated side in the Championship, of course.

It is claimed that Leeds and Farke are unwilling to sell the Italy international this summer, meaning Sean Dyche must reignite his past interest in Sulemana.

This transfer saga with Gnonto and Everton has hammered home that the Toffees aren’t exactly awash with cash right now.

A lowball offer last month has not been followed up, and that says a lot that they were trying their luck and came up short.

Another lowball approach for Sulemana is likely here, given they’ll be hoping they can strike upon another relegated side.

However, if any recent transfer approaches are anything to go by with Southampton, they aren’t a club to be trifled with in negotiations – see Romeo Lavia and James Ward-Prowse.
