After a full clearout of staff for the Denver Nuggets, a former Penn State basketball star will soon be looking for a new job.
Calvin Booth, who played at Penn State from 1995-1999, will not receive a contract extension when it expires at the end of this season with the Nuggets. He had served as their general manager for three seasons, winning a championship just two years ago in 2022-23.
The Nuggets also fired head coach Michael Malone, effective immediately, in his 10th season at the helm.
Booth oversaw the championship team but also had Denver in the Western Conference Finals last season. Superstar center Nikola Jokic won the MVP in 2023-24.
In his Penn State career, Booth started 83 games and averaged 11.3 points with 6.4 rebounds. He was the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year at the end of the 1997-98 season.
Booth played 10 seasons in the NBA with a bevy of different teams. The Washington Wizards drafted him in the second round with the 35th overall pick in 1999.
