With the college basketball season concluding, all eyes pointed toward the recruiting trail, both in the high school ranks and transfer portal. In the new age of the transfer portal, where thousands of experienced players are attempting to find a new home, high school recruiting has taken a decline. Although, the addition of a five-star recruit comes as a victory for any program across the country. On Friday, one of the highest uncommitted players in the class of 2025 was involved in a couple of decisions. After decommitting from Dan Hurley and his UConn Huskies, Darius Adams has decided to schedule visits to Georgetown and Maryland, per DuShawn London.
Before committing to UConn, Adams wasn’t very involved in either Georgetown or Maryland. This seems like a brand-new recruitment process for a blue-chip prospect who once took official visits to UConn, Michigan State, Tennessee and NC State.
According to 247Sports, Adams is rated as a five-star recruit, ranked as the No. 4 combo guard and the No. 23 overall player in the composite rankings. The loss of Adams may not sit well with Harley and the staff at UConn, but the Huskies are returning several talented players. UConn will be welcoming back Solo Ball, Jaylin Stewart, Tarris Reed Jr. and Jayden Ross. The Huskies also have the No. 7 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, including five-star Braylon Mullins, Eric Reibe and Jacob Furphy. While Adams will be restarting his recruitment process, Hurley and company will still have blue-chip talent entering the Big East program.
