The wild college career of TJ Finley seems to be taking another turn.

The sixth-year quarterback might now be onto his sixth different college program after reportedly entering the transfer portal on Friday. He most recently transferred from Western Kentucky to Tulane, where he was during this spring.

This transfer comes after Finley was recently suspended in early April following an arrest on charges related to a stolen car, according to multiple reports. Finley, 23, was booked on a charge of illegally possessing a stolen item worth more than $25,000, according to Fox 8 of New Orleans.

Tulane athletics released the following statement after his reported arrest, via WDSU:

“We are aware of a situation involving TJ Finley. He has been suspended from the football program pending the outcome of the case. Due to federal laws governing student privacy, we will not disclose any additional information regarding the student, including information related to disciplinary proceedings.”

Prior to his most recent stint at Tulane, Finley had stops at LSU, Auburn, Texas State and Western Kentucky. He began his college career at LSU, where he started five games, but transferred to Auburn following his freshman season.

Finley spent two seasons on the Plains, both under former head coach Bryan Harsin. His time at Auburn was up and down, throwing for 1,258 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions in two years, never completely establishing himself at the position.

He transferred after the 2022 season and Harsin’s departure, spending a season at Texas State — the most successful of his career — before his most recent stints at Western Kentucky and Tulane. Finley began the 2024 season as Western Kentucky’s starter, but only played in three games before his season was cut short by an ankle injury.
