Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has been offered the chance to move to Saudi Arabia with a “lucrative” contract offer on the table.
As we look ahead to the start of the Championship season, Leeds are preparing under Daniel Farke having lost a significant number of senior players.
The defence remains a key issue in terms of depth for the German, having seen three centre-backs leave the club on loan.
Liam Cooper to Saudi Arabia?
TalkSPORT are now reporting that Liam Cooper is the latest to be subject to a transfer approach, coming from a club in Saudi Arabia.
They claim that Robbie Fowler’s Al Qadsiah are keen on signing the Scotland international, having already brought in Joel Robles as a free transfer.
Would Cooper leave?
As the report underlines, Cooper was one of the first players to address the fans following relegation, vowing that he would never turn his back on the club.
Not only that, but it has since been revealed that Cooper told the squad in the dressing room after that Tottenham defeat that if players didn’t want to be there, they are free to find new clubs (expletives included).
Of all the players that I would expect to stick it out and Leeds and fight for promotion, it’s Cooper.
He has been totally committed to the cause ever since joining Leeds nine years ago, and I don’t think he’d be willing to give that up now.
As much as he would be set to earn an incredible wage by moving to the Middle East, it seems incredibly contradictory to what Cooper has stood for this summer.
A genuine chance at what would be a deserved testimonial would be a worthwhile thing to consider too for Cooper.
